His Master's Voice Jazz Band, which Christian and Andrew are members of, played at the Georgia Capitol on Homeschool Day.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 There is no shortage of boxes since we are still unpacking - boxes make great sleds!

 Boo did not like our snowman, Jim (whose face was made out of grapes), and barked ferociously at him.

Jim didn't run away  no matter how much Boo barked at him.

The kids played in the snow until after dark - fun day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Things have been a little crazy with our family since the last post. Let me sum it all up for you with the following:

October - Sold house on New River Way
November - Moved out of New River Way and into rental house
December - Bought house on King Mill
January - Moving into house on King Mill

Will update when I can!

A PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR

O God, the author of all good, I come to Thee for the grace another [year] will require for its duties and events. I step out into a wicked world; I carry about within me [a sinful & unsanctified] heart. I know that without Thee I can do nothing, that everything with which I shall be concerned, however harmless in itself, may prove an occasion of sin or folly, unless I am kept by Thy power. Hold Thou me up and I shall be safe.

Preserve my understanding from subtilty of error, my affections from love of idols, my character from stain of vice, my profession from every form of evil. May I engage in nothing in which I cannot implore Thy blessing, and in which I cannot invite Thy inspection. Prosper me in all lawful undertakings, or prepare me for disappointments. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with food convenient for me, lest I be full and deny Thee and say, Who is the Lord? or be poor, and steal, and take Thy name in vain.
May every creature be made good to me by prayer and Thy will. Teach me how to use the world and not abuse it, to improve my talents, to redeem my time, to walk in wisdom toward those without, and in kindness to those within, to do good to all men, and especially to my fellow Christians. And to Thee be the glory. Amen!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

God has graciously brought us a buyer for our house!!!!  As of today, we have a binding contract!  Honestly, I have mixed emotions.  We have tried to sell our house for a total of two years, and during that time, the house has been organized and clean all of the time in anticipation of a phone call announcing a showing.  We are about to shift from extreme order and cleanliness, to total chaos and filth.  Ugh.  The buyers want us out of the house by closing, which is scheduled for November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving, but we have negotiated for three days beyond that.  Wow.  We have three weeks to pack everything up and find somewhere else to live.  

S T R E S S !!!!!!!

A Pancake Breakfast

Sarah and Hannah made us pancakes for breakfast!  Yum!

A North Georgia Excursion with Nana and Papa

We stopped at the Jaemore Farm Market on our way up to the Dillard house.  We bought some fruits, veggies, jams, jellies, fried pies and boiled peanuts.  Oh those peanuts were soooo good!

Papa tried boiled peanuts for the first time and gave them a thumbs up!

At The Dillard House (Nana really was enjoying herself -- I just caught her with food in her mouth and she didn't want to smile too big.)

After we finished dinner at The Dillard House, we walked back to their horse stables and bought some corn to feed to the animals in their petting zoo.  Right after this picture was taken, a llama walked up to Sarah wanting some corn. He pushed his way right through the goats to get to her which the goats didn't take too kindly to.  One of the goats decided to show that llama and jumped on his (or her) back.  Papa was the only one to anticipate what was coming next and took off running.  The llama proceeded to throw its head up in the air and spit, spit, spit!  Spit was falling from the sky and some of us ended up getting a shower.  Ewwwww! 

Our next stop was the Nora Mill Granary, one of our favorite stops in north Georgia, where we picked up some stone ground grits, pioneer porridge and shopped in their fabulous country store.  It is a tradition to take a family picture by the river running behind the mill.

Daylight was fading as we left the mill, so we set our course for home.

A Wedding Celebration!

We had the honor of celebrating the marriage of our dear friends oldest son, Brett Hawkins, to Lauren Boyce in Cape May, New Jersey!

My handsome husband and I -- can you see how blue his eyes are in this picture?! The bride chose to use beautiful, blue hydrangeas and delphinium to decorate with, and it was absolutely stunning! The flowers complimented Tom's eyes quite nicely.
