We got started later than we intended to, but we finally pulled onto I-75, heading north towards something -- we weren't sure what. We definitely felt a certain freedom in our choice of locations, given that we were taking our "house" with us!
After just a couple of hours, we decided to stop for the night at a KOA in Calhoun, Georgia (remember - we got a late start!). The site they put us on was really, really skinny, and there were trees in the way preventing us from opening our awning. We weren't too heart-broken, since we knew we were pulling out the next morning. The campground did have full hook-ups, which was so nice, given how quickly the holding tanks fill.
We were up bright and early Friday morning, eager to move on to our next destination, wherever that may be!
I was recently asked what the stand on the floor in the front of the Excursion was for. I explained that it is where Tom secures his laptop for the purpose of navigation when we're traveling. He has GPS software on his laptop, and he puts a gizmo on the dash that the satellites can see, and presto! There we are, marked by a green dot on the map on his laptop screen. When we move, the green dot turns to an arrow and moves on the map showing us exactly where we are. It has come in really handy in those heavy traffic situations where one wants to get off the freeway. So even when we're lost, we always know right where we are!
I allowed Christian to sit up front a portion of this day, and enjoyed spreading out in the back seat. This was my view of the controls.
