Tom left on a four-day trip Tuesday morning (4:30 a.m. yuk!), so it was up to the boys to put together our new deck furniture. They learned first-hand the frustrations of buying something only to find that it has a manufacturers defect or has gotten broken somewhere along the way. Christian is sure that the whole problem is that it was made in China, and he's probably right. But who can afford a patio set made in America?! The price was right on this one -- on clearance!
Of the 6 chairs we bought, 4 had defects or were damaged, and the umbrella base had a defect as well. Back to Lowe's it all went! The kids and I got smart the next time and took everything out of the box BEFORE we brought it home. Lowe's didn't have any umbrellas that matched the set, but after visiting patioumbrellas.com, I think we have our umbrella problem solved.
This is our 5th summer in this house, so why we didn't buy a patio set before is beyond me! Probably because the nature of our next-door neighbors kept us inside, but since they have moved, we are outside much, much more. Hopefully, this set will work well in our next house, too! I am sooooo looking forward to my morning coffee and devotions on the deck tomorrow!
